The Guide for the Perplexed is the masterpiece of the medieval Jewish philosopher, jurist, and physician Moses Maimonides. Originally written in Arabic, the book seeks to reconcile Jewish religious teachings with Aristotelian philosophy and rational inquiry. Addressed to readers struggling to harmonize faith and reason, Maimonides examines the nature of God, creation, prophecy, divine providence, human knowledge, and the interpretation of Scripture. He argues that many biblical passages should be understood symbolically rather than literally and develops the concept of negative theology, emphasizing that God's essence transcends human comprehension. Widely regarded as one of the greatest works of Jewish philosophy, The Guide for the Perplexed has profoundly influenced Jewish, Christian, and Islamic intellectual traditions and remains an essential text in philosophy, theology, and religious studies.
