The first chapter describes the history of Urga, lists its temples and provides information about its everyday life, art and sutra literature based on written sources and reminiscences of old monks. The second chapter details the present-day collections and the most significant artworks, photographs, sutras and documents that remained from Urga. The third chapter includes translations and analyses of a few sources that are significant from the
aspect of Urga’s legacy. Although the research in the institutes could not be achieved as originally planned, it became evident that numerous objects keep the memories of Urga, and the present handbook is only as a base for further studies of this valuable heritage.
